Fundraising Projects

Besides raising funds, the following ongoing projects are directed at creating public awareness of our organisation and are successfully managed by volunteers.

School collection: The school collection project is a very successful project that has been running for the last 10 years. A presentation is given to the pupils, highlighting the plight of the less fortunate. Envelopes bearing the child welfare logo are distributed and each pupil requested to get as many sponsors as possible. We are currently receiving donations from thousands of pupils each year and the response from the schools have been excellent.

Tin collection: The tin collection project has also been running for several years already. Volunteers visit various shopping centres a few times a week; information material is distributed and a small donation requested. This project is an excellent source of creating awareness– although there are still members of the public that are not willing to assist, the majority of people are compassionate and very interested in the services that Child Welfare Tshwane provides.

Bargain shops: We currently run two bargain shops, one at the Groenkloof office and the other in Pretoria Central. A wide range of plastic goods aswell as second hand clothing is sold. We are very reliant on donations from the public, for both our bargain shops as well as for dispersion at our various centres.

Recycling: This is one of our newer projects. Child Welfare Tshwane is committed to eliminating waste materials and in association with Mondi, we collect all paper materials for recycling purposes. Proceeds go to Bramley Children’s Home. For further information, please contact Hentie on 012 460 9236.
